Jimco Software Reviews - Wardrobe Wizard (continued)
How it Works
The installation of Wardrobe Wizard is awkward. It involves unzipping files into the Poser folder and then clicking on File, Run Python Script. You then browse to the Wardrobe Wizard script to access the menu. The next time you want to run Wardrobe Wizard, you go through the same process starting with File, Run Python Script. The alternative is replacing a Python script that ships with Poser with one that ships with Wardrobe Wizard. After doing that (which you'll do from Windows Explorer with Poser closed), relaunch Poser and the Python Scripts dialog will have a Wardrobe Wizard button on it as shown in figure 1.

Figure 1 - Python Scripts Showing Wardrobe Wizard Button
Whew! That's a lot of work to go through to install a product. I'd have preferred a setup program to do all of that for me. I'm sure PhilC figures that people using Poser are savvy enough to work through this process, but a setup program would have made the first impression a better one.
Wardrobe Wizard's claim that it can convert conforming clothing from one figure to another is pretty extraordinary. Fortunately for Poser users, it delivers quite well on that claim.
When you click the Wardrobe Wizard button, you'll be presented with a menu containing a series of buttons. Most of these buttons will allow you to drill into further functions. Some of these functions are already available in Poser, but Wardrobe Wizard makes them easier to access for the sake of convenience. For example, you can easily zero a figure with Wardrobe Wizard by simply clicking a button as shown in figure 2.
Figure 2 - Zeroing Figures Made Easy
Notice in figure 2 that there are many utility functions other than just zeroing a figure. One could argue that the numerous clicks and navigations that you can avoid by using Wardrobe Wizard more than make up for the numerous clicks necessary to install it. You can access Poser features to control IK, zero figure, change the face, control magnets, edit textures... all from right within Wardrobe Wizard.
Converting Clothes
How well does Wardrobe Wizard work? Extremely well! Wardrobe Wizard's claim that it can convert conforming clothing from one figure to another is pretty extraordinary. Fortunately for Poser users, it delivers quite well on that claim. PhilC warns potential buys that the conversion won't be of the same quality as clothing designed for a particular figure, but for most folks, Wardrobe Wizard's conversions will be the answer to a long-time desire. Figure 3 demonstrates the kind of results you can expect from Wardrobe Wizard.

The shirt in figure 3 required some tweaking in Wardrobe Wizard in order for it to completely cover the new figure, but doing so was easy and intuitive, and the results are pretty impressive. The pants conversion is untweaked so that you can see the basic conversion results. Wardrobe Wizard includes plenty of options that allow you to tweak the conversion process. Figure 4 shows the result of a few minutes of tweaking the conversion of the pants shown in figure 3.
