telerik r.a.d.editor 4.05
If you own FrontPage 2003, you now own a Web design tool with support for
ASP.NET. I realize that some of you don't consider yourselves developers.
Don't worry! All you need to use the r.a.d.editor control is support for
ASP.NET. This control kicks some serious backside without writing a single
line of code. For those of you who are ASP.NET developers (starting out or
experienced), r.a.d.editor offers robust support for you as well with a rich
API.
Let's get one more thing out of the way before we begin. The
r.a.d.editor control is expensive. A single developer license will cost
you $349. But don't stop reading! If
you design Web sites for other people (and I know that many of you do), this
control is extremely affordable, and the capabilities that it will add to your
Web design toolkit will be ones that you seriously will not want to live
without. This is not hyperbole. Keep reading and you'll see what I
mean!
I've got several places in this Web site that I like to edit on a regular
basis. Some are entire pages. Others are just a paragraph here and a
paragraph there. FrontPage makes that task easy, but there's one major
downfall to editing your ASP.NET content in FrontPage and re-publishing it; it
will often cause your application to restart. What does that mean?
It means that anyone browsing your Web site will lose all of their Session
variables.
It's also a hassle for me to edit my site in FrontPage when I just want, for
example, to change a paragraph or two on my home page. r.a.d.editor gives
me the ability to edit that content from any Web browser. That's extremely
powerful stuff! What's more, r.a.d.editor has all of the functionality
that you're used to having in FrontPage, including a full-featured and powerful
spell checker that ships with the product at no additional charge. Now
we're talking!
