Jimco Software Reviews - Poser 6 (continued)
The Hair Room
The Hair room (figure 11) is where you go to grow hair on not only your figures, but also on props. (For example, you can create a rock in your favorite modeling tool, import it into Poser, and then grow hairy moss on it!) Poser does a great job of giving you interface cues on how to go about growing hair. What looks like an incredibly complicated process is actually pretty easy. If you want to get fancy with it, the opportunities are there. In fact, you can style all the way down to the strand level (a single hair) if you choose.

Controls are also here for gravity and other natural forces. Collision is also modeled so that your hair won't appear to penetrate through your figure's skull.
Poser's hair room is remarkably usable given its power, and the hair that you can create with it is incredibly lifelike.
Poser supports as many hair groups as you desire. If you want hair that looks as realistic as possible, it's best to use multiple hair groups on the skull. Other hair groups can be used to grow facial hair, chest hair, leg hair, back hair... you name it! As a matter of fact, creating a life-like Bigfoot would be quite possible using this system. Poser's hair room is remarkably usable given its power, and the hair that you can create with it is incredibly lifelike.
The Cloth Room
The Cloth room (figure 12) is where you go when you need to either create cloth or create dynamic clothing. (More on dynamic clothing soon.) In figure 12, I've used a high-resolution square plane to create a cloth skirt for my figure. Creating this type of cloth is simple to do and Poser provides you with granular control over how the cloth behaves. Poser cloth behaves extraordinarily realistically, especially in animations.
Figure 12 - The Cloth Room
Another excellent use of the Cloth room is dynamic clothing. The shirt that you see in figure 12 and figure 13 is what is called conforming clothing. It hugs every curve of the figure and often looks a bit ridged. By using dynamic clothing, you can transform a rigid piece of clothing into a realistic prop quickly. Figure 13 shows a Poser figure dressed in a red conforming t-shirt. Figure 14 is the same figure in a dynamic t-shirt. The difference is dramatic.

The Setup Room
Despite its meager appearance, the Setup room (figure 15) is where much of Poser's power presides. From this room, you can modify existing figures at the bone and joint level. You can also create your own figures. As in real life, figures are defined by bones and joints and how those joints behave. The Setup room is where you can create any figure you can imagine.
