Jimco Software Reviews - Nero Ultra Edition 6.6 (continued)
Nero Burning ROM
Nero Burning ROM has been at the forefront of CD burning applications for a long time. Originally, this was because it offered users the ability to specify burn settings that other applications didn't offer. As time has progressed, Ahead has maintained its position due to the reliability of Nero and because it still offers every feature conceivable.
When you start Nero Burning ROM, you are presented with a New Compilation dialog as shown in figure 3. From here, you can choose what type of media and disc you want to burn. Depending upon what you choose, your options will vary. In figure 3, I've chosen to burn a boot DVD.

As you can see, options abound here. Some of these should only be fooled with if you really know what you're doing. If you're an expert, Nero Burning ROM will give you the control you want, but it also caters to those who just want to click and burn. As you can see in figure 3, there is a Nero Express button which launches a scaled-down version for those who are technically challenged.
If you're an expert, Nero Burning ROM will give you the control you want, but it also caters to those who just want to click and burn.
Once you finish specifying your options, clicking the New button will take you to the main Nero Burning ROM dialog shown in figure 4. (If you want to change some options later, you can do that too.) Simplicity is the key here. Just drag and drop the files that you want to burn and then click the Burn button to get things rolling.

All of the qualities that made Nero Burning ROM great are still here in the sixth iteration, but Ahead has made significant headway at making it more user-friendly. Nero has become an application for the masses, and the masses will benefit immensely from it.
I tested Nero Burning ROM in four different devices, both CD and DVD. It worked without a hitch on all devices and with all media that I could throw at it.
