Jimco Software Reviews - Sonic DVDit Professional 6 (continued)
The New Interface
The first thing you'll notice about DVDit Professional 6 is the new interface, shown in figure 1 below. I liked the multi-tab interface of the previous version, but I have to tell you that the new version's interface is far superior. Not only does it look more professional now, but it is also quite a bit more functional. For example, all parts of the interface are moveable making it easy to rearrange it just the way you want.

I can't begin to tell you how much better this interface is than the previous version. It's even better if you have multi-monitor support because DVDit now fully supports multiple monitors! You can have the Preview window full-screen on one monitor while the configuration windows are arranged in another. Once you use DVDit on a multi-monitor setup, you won't want to use another authoring environment. . . ever!

Another great benefit to DVDit's new interface is the ability to see the entire project's layout from the Project window as shown in figure 2. I noticed this new feature as soon as I launched DVDit Professional 6.0 for the first time, but it wasn't until I created a project using it that I truly appreciated it. My efficiency in DVD authoring was greatly improved by the new workflow design in DVDit.

If you just can't stand a move away from the old multi-tab interface, you can still use it by simply clicking on Window and then Show Main Toolbar. It works a bit different than previous versions. In this version, clicking each "tab" (they're really buttons) simply changes the screen layout, but it's every bit as effective as the previous version.
