Two Modes - Gold and Express

There are two modes to DVDFab; gold mode and express mode. Each has its benefits and special capabilities. For example, to shrink a 2.5 hour DVD to a single-layer 4.7GB DVD, you will need to use the express mode. That seems a little counter-intuitive to me because I would think that the platinum mode would provide for more features and flexibility. In fact, you shouldn't think of one mode as being more capable than the other mode. Just different. I'm not sure why DVDIdle took this route, but once you get used to it, it's not a big deal.

Express mode (see figure 1) makes it easy to copy an entire DVD (including menus, subtitles, etc.) or just the main movie. I will typically copy just the main menu because that allows my kids to play the DVD without having to navigate menus.

As you can see in figure 1, Express Mode is a simple interface into DVDFab. However, there are quite a few configuration options available, including the ability to shrink a DVD to the proper size to fit onto a single-layer blank. In my testing, doing this works great and causes no discernable loss of quality. Keep in mind, however, that I am not watching this on an expensive HD television. (Remember, I have kids!)

The other mode available in DVDFab is the Gold Mode shown in figure 2. In this mode, you can quickly and easily back-up a disc without a lot of confusing or time-consuming options. Just click and copy.
